Brookhaven boasts municipal ownership of its electric light and water systems. The town, with about 3500 residents, runs over eleven hundred incandescent lights for homes and businesses and charges 36 cents per month per consumer. Jackson lags with around 300 lights, while Brookhaven serves Front Haven and nearby areas with reliable service.
The Atlas Savings and Loan Association of Chattanooga organizes a local Brookhaven board with C. B. Perkins as president and J. B. Nalty as vice president.
