Walter McLaurin a Mississippi lawyer and former Railroad Commissioner died at the Governor's Mansion in Jackson after a short illness of grippe and meningitis. Born 1860 in Smith County, he served three terms as Railroad Commissioner and one year as Warden of the Penitentiary. He was a popular figure among the McLaurin brothers and his death ends a long public career.
