Oliver Clifton Dies of Pneumonia in Jackson
Hon Oliver Clifton former mayor elect of Jackson died at his home after a few days illness. He was 57 and had served as mayor three times in Jackson. Clifton took the oath in bed on Friday and died Saturday night. He long influenced Mississippi public life, serving in the Legislature and as clerk of the Supreme Court. He is survived by his wife three sons and one daughter.
