Humor of the Hour Detroit tale of fare dodge ends

A ruminating joke from the Detroit Free Press recalls a man fearing future fares for his seven year old son Willie. His wife visits a sister in the western part of the state and asserts she will avoid paying Willie fare, prompting a contractor to collect the fare and leaving the rest to imagination. The piece preserves a local newspaper tone with a punchline about Willie’s response and possible improprieties.
