The notice follows a church service change due to Dr. Conerly’s death and reflects community updates on school improvements, social events, and local residents.
A negro man named Bil Hilson living about eight miles from Brookhaven was shot to death while returning home in his buggy on a December day. The coroner impaneled a jury, verdicts death by gunshot at unknown hands. Whitecaps had warned him previously and fired at his home. his wife was ill with a newborn. This is the second such murder in Lincoln county within weeks and prompts calls for action by citizens and officials.
A college yell contest at the union station stirred crowds as Millsaps Mississippi College and Whitworth College students gathered. Hundreds of students, with Millsaps leading, clashed in enthusiastic yells, while Whitworth girls arrived to join and momentarily upstage the scene in Clinton and Jackson.

Mrs R H Meter died last Thursday after sitting in Copiah county. While alone briefly, her clothing ignited from burning ashes and she burned to a crisp in the yard. She was about 65 and visiting her daughter Emma Reeves. The Grookharen Steam Laundry has reopened after repairs.
