At a special Brookhaven Mississippi meeting August 14 1900 Mayor J B Daughtry and aldermen reviewed bids for extending water works and electric lights. The United States Cast Iron Pipe Company Chattanooga was chosen for pipe and castings at 47.20 per ton and 30 per ton respectively while McDaniel & Porter McComb City were selected to lay pipe at 10 per linear foot and hydrants at 1.00 each. Mayor Daughtry empowered to contract with both firms in the city’s name.
