First New Bale Prize Winners At Brookhaven Market
Brookhaven opened with four Lincoln county farmers delivering their first bales on Thursday the 17th. John McGrath & Sons bought the initial bale by John Smith of Red Star, 516 pounds at 10 cents, plus a $20 gold prize. J R. McGehee of Montgomery took the second bale at 556 pounds for 10 cents and a barrel of Famous Orris Flour as the prize. W L Entrican of Brookhaven claimed third bale, 460 pounds at 10 cents with a $3 bat prize. Ben Huff of heada 1 bales and M Lewenthal & Son took the fourth bale at 454 pounds. The first Brookhaven bale earlier in the year was produced by J R McGehee and F Middleton of Montgomery, arriving Aug 16 and winning McGrath & Sons’ $25 gold prize, bought at 11 cents.
