Dr G B Young of the Marine Hospital Service and the Mississippi State Board of Health convinced Jackson's city council that stegomyia mosquitoes transmit yellow fever. He pledged further screening of cisterns and water robots, described the mosquito, and noted many locals lack species recognition.
