Montville Buys Boswell House. Brookhaven to Get New Hotel

Louis Montville becomes owner of the Boswell House property for 4900. He plans moving existing buildings and erecting a three story brick hotel with modern fittings, aiming for completion by September. Mrs. Boswell retires for health reasons and will reside nearby. The town notes farming delays, a rheumatic illness in W J Williams, and reports on a new storehouse by a local merchant and postmaster. Prof T P Scott leads Brookhaven teachers to Jackson for the State Association meeting in May with reduced rail rates offered.

Brookhaven Mill Consolidation for One Oil Plant

At a Brookhaven meeting, Progressive Oil Mill and Brookhaven Cotton Oil Co agreed to merge into Brookhaven Progressive Cotton Oil Co with 860,000 capital, half to each former holder, and 85,000 to new members. The new plant will be in Brookhaven. a 9th director joins the board. officers to be elected later. The move aims to end rivalry, unite assets, and spur local industry.

Progressive Cotton Oil Company Incorporation This Mississippian Entity

A circa early 20th century filing declares the formation of the Whaven Progressive Cotton Oil Company Limited, detailing its purpose to engage in fertilizer production from cotton waste, purchase and sale of cotton seed and hulls, operate mills, run wholesale and retail seed depots, and real estate and livestock activities. It lists founders including Scherck, Fown, and Parson, and sets capital, domicile in Bonner City, and powers under Mississippi law with stock structure and officer roles.
