Methodists to Hear Bishop November Twenty Two
Members of the First Methodist church will hear Bishop H. Clifford Northcott speak at the Harvest Home dinner on Tuesday evening November 22. Northcott, now resident bishop of the Wisconsin Methodist area, was born in Canada and ordained in 1919 after study at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, Garrett Biblical Institute, and Himei Wesleyan university. He previously served as Army chaplain in World War I and pastored Elmhurst, Elsdon, Parkside, and Oak Park, later leading the First Methodist church in Champaign from 1924 to 1948.

Impressive Juliette Low celebration held Thursday November 3 in Gross school gym with 132 Girl Scouts. Senior scouts lit three candles for the three parts of the Girl Scout promise while an Intermediate scout from each troop carried a banner aiding by the Juliette Low fund. Mrs. De Wees reenacted Juliette Low and explained scouting’s American start. Delegates later toured the Tribune plant to learn newspaper publishing.
