Neighbors and families on Elm Park and Prairie avenues share summer travels and birthdays. Dr. and Mrs. Merrick celebrate at Niagara Falls and Washington DC while relatives visit Chicago and Phoenix. Local residents announce birthdays, outings, and family gatherings. homes list recent sales and remodels on Oak Madison and Eberly avenues.
The Jane meeting was held at 1032 S Waiola Ave LaGrange with co hostesses Edmond A Siebert and Mrs R. Meting. Marjorie McCoy from Culver Stockton and Mary Forester of LaGrange, Miami University senior, attended. A special guest will speak Oct 11, Dr Katharine Wright from Chicago. She leads the medical staff at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Europe and will discuss mental hygiene clinic work.

Names are unclear for some entrants but Linda Rudolph and Patsy Bonkovic led the girls costume division with first place in the team event. Boys costume section placed No 20 No 10 and No 14 in first second and third. Ribbons to be picked up at the Village Hall.
The Board of Education District No. 95 Brookfield Cook County seeks bids for approximately 300 tons of Illinois industrial stoker screenings 1/4 to 1/8 inch delivered as needed. Bids must show analyses as received and on dry basis and state cash price and mining region. Deadline 8:00 PM July 19, 1954 at 3524 Maple Avenue Brookfield.
A Brookfield community carnival featured youngsters guiding at races with winners named in boys and girls divisions. Balloon buoyant contest followed a big infield balloon release and a Flying Model Airplane show. Firefighters then triumphed in a series of bouts, with Lyons and LaGrange departments placing in a separate clash.
An accumulation of papers bottles and debris marked the aftermath of a village fireworks display that drew nearly 10 000 residents and visitors who spent an enjoyable day in the park as lights and colored bulbs fluttered in a gentle breeze.
