Village Board Sets Policy After Monday Meeting
The Brookfield village board debated El Rinchos and a Lustron project before deciding to settle the matter at a special meeting next Monday night. They endorsed reappointing Elmer A Swanson as chairman of the Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission and will forward the recommendation to Cook County’s executive committee for final action. The board also approved bid advertisements for a half ton water department truck, new police radio equipment, and sewer cleaning gear plus a street sweeper. The police band plan with FCC was noted to be in process with service expected around May 15 at about four thousand dollars. Two patrolmen, F. A. Latzke and Paul F. Shaw, were certified to the Brookfield Police Department. The manager suggested recognition after FBI training and a meeting to plan it. A questionnaire for Brookfield Recreation was circulated to residents, skating ponds were discussed, and three lots may be flooded for skating when weather permits. The Dunn vs Smoat case was stricken due to William Dunn’s death, and the Welbash bill will be addressed later after financial committee discussions.

Think of It Continued From Page One Performance
The passage recalls a band or group in a small town whose rehearsals and public concerts remained musically strong despite occasional discords. Audiences were tolerant in earlier decades, possibly due to the group’s flexible music forms or the community’s temperament. Archie Schonemann.
