Hunters' 1950 season a disappointing tale across Illinois

The 1950 hunting year yielded scarce game due to warm falls and poor weather. Local hunters recall lean ducks on Northern Illinois lakes and river bottoms, with many species scarce and birds migrating south only after harsh conditions. Notable locals like Frank Schoen and Dick Cossitt are cited, while conservation areas near Horse Shoe Lake draw praise and critique for restrictiveness.
