The Congregational Church school mailed six CARE food parcels totaling 2142 pounds costing 10 dollars each for Greece France and Italy. Recipients in Italy sent thanks notes from Laura Janni and Esterina Tozzi praising the aid and expressing gratitude for the support during hardship.

The board approved adding Gasey Flowers to the auxiliary police force and okayed converting Southview avenue into a westbound one way street from Maple to North street. Trustee Bash urged ending the practice of issuing village pay checks at the council office, a recommendation the board supported. Brookfield’s representative on the Brookfield North Riversine Water commission sent a letter inviting the board to attend the commission meeting on August 20.

Enjoy Vacation Trip to Northwest Coast
Mrs. Fred Stromsky and daughter Sally have returned home after a vacation visiting Seattle Portland Vancouver and Victoria plus the Canadian Rockies. They traveled by train to Seattle then by car, ferried to Victoria, and toured Bochart gardens. They visited Doctors Phil and Paul Peterson formerly of Brookfield and had dinner in Seattle. The scenic Yakima Wenatchee Valley Coulee Dam and the Olympic mountains were high points of the trip.
