Two Hurt in Two Accidents Damaging Three Cars
Police reported two injuries and three cars damaged in two separate accidents this week. In the first, William G. Brookfield moves to electric street lighting with fewer than 100 gas lamps left. As of Feb 1 1949 the village operates 450 street lights including electric and ornamental types, at about 7200 dollars yearly. 400 Kids Go Fishing in Salt Creek Contest at Kiwanis Park
Brookfield Sportsmen's club sponsored the event drawing some 409 youngsters who fished Salt Creek with cane poles and rods. Only two fish were caught but crabs yielded hundreds, triggering a crab contest with prizes for largest crab and most crabs. Robert Hosticka won first for the longest fish, Larry Fritsch second, Harold Faulk third for largest crab. Tony Strobl cited hatchery transport issues and called it the third annual, biggest yet, with many prize donors and attendees.
