Helen L. Conrad 70 formerly of 4240 Dubois Avenue died April 23 at the Summit Sanitary Facility. She was the widow of the late William Conrad and mother of Elsie Wilkinson and Louise Fehrman. Services were held at Mansfield Funeral Home 45 Grand Blvd on Monday April 28 at 2 p.m. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Newton.
Lois Peel, 4231 Elm Brookfield, a freshman in the university College of Music, is a member of the Colorado University concert band. The May Festival concert on May 17 features Percy Grainger as guest conductor and pianist with several solos by Grainger. The program also includes selections by the university choir.

A bridal shower honored Miss Myrtle Penne at the F Kessel home Sunday afternoon. About 60 guests attended and presented gifts as Myrtle, a graduate nurse from Michael Reese, and Kenneth Kessel, a pre medical student, look toward a June wedding at a Naperville Catholic parish.

District 208 Youth Center Inc a nonprofit has run in temporary quarters since Jan 23 with seven adults as officers and directors. Teens will run activities including meeting friends eating hot dogs dancing ping pong and planning events while maintaining the center and budgeting through dues shows and occasional user fees.
Mrs. E. L. Ruesch of 3706 Arthur Ave Brookfield was named chairman of the committee to handle refreshments at a captain's rally tied to a 250000 capital funds drive by the West Suburban Council Boy Scouts of America. The rally is set for Riverside Brookfield High School at 3 p.m. Tuesday May 4 with over 200 volunteer captains expected.
The Youth Center will open Friday and Saturday during the school year and other times in summer and vacation periods. It will be located on Burlington Street Riverside about 400 feet east of the shopping center and seven tenths mile from RBHS. The lot measures 150 by 147 feet with a 5,000 square foot interior including washrooms boiler room aluminum foil ceiling radiant floor heating kitchen and cement block construction with face brick on one side. The building land and utilities are estimated at 40 000 raised by teenage members who will canvass houses during Youth Week May 8 to 14.

H. V. G. Jones of Brookfield has been named area chairman for a $250,000 capital funds drive by the West Suburban Council, Boy Scouts of America, running May 1 through May 30. Proceeds will fund new camping and headquarters facilities. advance gifts solicitation ends May 15.
