Former Brook Boys Lucky Chaps Wedding in Ft Wayne

A wedding occurred in Ft Wayne last Saturday between Dorsey Warr Merchant and Miss Helen Danks. Dorsey, educated in Brook and Purdue, worked for General Electric in Ft Wayne, served as an Army engineer during the war, and is now settled with his bride in their new home. Brook friends extend congratulations.

Miss Carbaugh Weds Clifford Todd at Brook Parish

Miss Ethel Carbaugh daughter of Mr and Mrs David Carbaugh and Mr Clifford Todd of Brook were married at the Presbyterian Church at 8 45 Sunday morning by Rev N V Andrews. A reception followed at the bride’s parents home east of town then the couple left for Fairbury to visit relatives. On return they will live in Brook where the groom works with his father. Friends held a shower for them Thursday night with dancing and a luncheon.

Miss Esther Weidenbaker of Goodland won the county spelling banner after the final round, with Miss Thelma Effer of Morocco taking second place and Miss Marjorie Porter of the Ade school named among top finishers. Basket Ball Teams Entertained at Community Building

An enjoyable evening at the Community Building featured High School basketball players entertained by a program. The event opened with a trip to Killarney then field meet competitions, followed by a two course dinner. Mr Courtney praised the team and Mr Davis received a purse as thanks for his work.

Chicago March 18 Federal Judge K M Landis marked his sixteenth anniversary on the bench and said he expected to remain for sixteen more years. He did not know the date until told by his bailiff. Reports had circulated that he might resign to devote full time to baseball commissioner duties.
