Scarlet fever warning issued by Texas health dept
The Texas State Department of Health warns of scarlet fever as cases rise in fall. Last year Texas reported over twenty six hundred cases with most deaths from October to February. Children under 15 are most at risk, especially under five. Seek medical help, follow quarantine, and do not return to school until health officials permit. A doctor must report cases locally and early signs include fever rash and sore throat.
