Bruton's Place, owned by C E Bruton, celebrated a modern service station and store opening on highway 70. Long lines formed as Bruton and staff offered sandwiches coffee and cake while advertising special prices and reporting sales for the day doubled expectations.
The State of Texas Coke County to those indebted to or holding claims against the estate of John A Ellison deceased. The undersigned administrator appointed by Judge C E Gerron on May 9 1988 publishes this notice for claim submission.
J L Stephenson appointed administrator of the late J A Ellison estate at Tennyson. He orders a quick disposal stock sale and notes an ad in this issue. Also mentions fishing party on Pecos river and a Sunday visit to Wastella. Estate notices require all debts and claims be presented at his residence near Tennyson Coke County Texas by law.
The Commissioners Court convened on May 8 with N. C. Baker named justice of the peace for Tinnyson precinct. County officials reported totals and approved monthly accounts. road supervision pay was set from the road and bridge fund and members received daily attendance fees. The Bronte Burst High School district tax vote failed 102 to 5. Hudman reported dry conditions on a Brady trip.
