Robert Knierim of Home Motor Company Bronte discusses Ford price cuts applied Saturday. Dealers stocked heavily and face losses, while Knierim notes the reductions help buyers and keep Ford competitive in the auto market. The piece highlights Ford leadership in service and affordability.
Mr and Mrs M P Ponton and son Burdette of Hallettsville are visiting Bronte and Hayrick. Mrs Ponton is the daughter of Mr and Mrs J M Waldrop of Hayrick and sister to someone unnamed.
On Sunday a strong church attendance marked the day with nearly 100 lessons studied in Sunday school. The service included the baptism of Dorothy Ruth and Richard Henry Wiley. A special song by Messrs. Jones and Morton of McMurry College enhanced the gathering.
The article notes a revival meeting led by Dean McKeown and Mr Morton, with songs and a talk about McMurry College and its work for youth. Morning and evening services had visitors, Sunday school at 10, preaching at 11, and a special program planned for next Sunday. The revival begins Saturday night and all are invited.
A pretty wedding was solemnized at six o’clock Tuesday morning at the home of Mr and Mrs Tate. Mrs Mattie Prank Johnson participated in the ceremony in the presence of a few intimate friends.
Mrs. and Mr. Johnson wed in Bronte Texas with Rev. J Henry Littleton officiating. Miss Tennie Barnett and Miss Alberta Howell as bridesmaids, Marie Pope played for the ceremony, and the couple will reside in Bronte after an extensive honeymoon trip to New Mexico and Colorado. The bride, daughter of R W Owen, is a Hamlin native and Herald Office assistant.
The Hamlin Herald notes Mr and Mrs Johnson have moved into apartments in the Mrs Wylie residence and are warmly welcomed into Bronte social life. The Enterprise extends greetings and wishes them blessings in life.
The late William M. Wood of the American Woolen company argued prices were too high. At a Boston luncheon he declared the coat of clothing had risen nearly 800 percent, saying it was bad for business. A cashier joked at supper that the "old clothes man" was near, and the girl advised they did not need any day.
In New York City a Bell Telephone laboratories demo of a new electrical stethoscope revealed how every muscular action creates noise. Three hundred attendees heard muscles creak and slide during hand clenching and opening movements.
Airplanes are used to supply Alpine huts in the Tyrol via parachute drops where no landing site exists. The new method costs about one third of the old provisioning approach, delivering cargo to remote out-of-the-way huts.
The American Social Hygiene Association used Saint Valentine traditions to promote fine ideals. They mailed 200 letters last year and 2,000 this year seeking judgments from ministers and others on the feasibility. Practically all responses were favorable to the Indians Race Dwind en war.
