Reports from Texas communities show a uptick in influenza. Dr Geo W Cox, state health officer, links spread to cold weather and heavy snows and urges precautions to prevent transmission. He advises avoidance of crowds, personal items, hand washing, hydration and seeking medical care if symptoms worsen.
Abilene February 1 entries from FFA and 4-H members across seven of 13 counties indicate a record show. The event runs February 14–15 at the West Texas Fair Grounds with 400 lambs 15 calves and 200 hogs expected. Taylor County division judging opens at 9 a.m. February 14 followed by the Taylor Hereford Breeders Association auction at 1 30 p.m. on the same day.
