Abilene Aug 25 An enlarged and improved West Texas Fair to be held October 27 will feature a nationally known revue type show the first all Palomino horse show in the United States expanded exhibit departments in Livestock and Women’s divisions and an enhanced education and entertainment program President Jack Simmons said the fair aims to glorify West Texas for West Texans and showcase regional achievements with top entertainment and livestock displays including Palomino horses.
The 1939 West Texas Fair will feature Palomino horses in nine divisions including under saddle and halter classes, and Palomino cutting competition. New booths for the Women’s department offer plant and flower guidance, photography displays, and a culinary division. officials promise a bigger, better fair for years to come.
At Mrs S A Beasley home in Sweetwater a Tuesday evening shower honored Mrs Jack Chapman. About 100 guests attended with readings by Miss Oneta Russell and songs by Mildred Barnett and Etta Lee Jones. Lawn decorations featured blue and white.
R W Rogge and his sister Mrs Homer Cothran of Maryneal visited Tuesday with their brother T H Rogge and wife. Postmaster R J Epperson left Tuesday for Gatesville to spend a week with relatives.
Mrs. O. W. Chapman of Bronte attended the gathering where guests were entertained by a number of contests.
Fred McMullan, a student in the academy department at Abilene Christian College, completed his studies and graduated Thursday night.
