Notice filed at Bronte Texas on March 1 1918 under the Act of August 12 1871. The entry records a government action registered at the local Post Office as part of official federal procedure.
The play Black Cats sponsored by the PTA will be performed Friday night April 15 in the school building. Admission is 10 and 20 cents with music and singing promised. An Easter egg hunt for both rooms is planned for that day. Health nurse Miss Sarah Fay Harwell visited the school April 6. Honor roll readers include Bobbie Clarke and others listed. most pupils are back from chicken pox, Lloyd Baldwin remains ill. A stereoscope tour features Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Holland.
The Blackwell news note reports the Methodist Missionary Society gathering at Mrs. T. A. Carlisle’s home Monday afternoon. Mrs. A. J. Jones taught from Philippians Chapter 4. A festive plate of cake sandwiches and punch with Easter eggs and rabbits honored attendees including Mrs. J. W. Leach Mrs. P. G. Dabney Mrs. W. W. Youngblood and guest Mrs. W. L. Penton among others.
The annual Junior-Senior banquet was held in the Blackwell High School auditorium with Superintendent LeRoy Stone as toastmaster. Hardin-Simmons students presented the program and guests from the university attended, including Avery Lee of HSU.
Harold Hamilton, Pauline Hamilton, and Joyce Williams of Amarillo join Jeraldine Jordan of Lubbock for a weekend visit in Blackwell.
Mrs. George Jones of Houston is visiting relatives in Blackwell this week.
Mrs Arnold McRorey and Mrs Bill McRorey visited their mother Mrs Lewis of Rotan who is reported better after illness.
A 210 pound boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brice on March 28, marking a notable birth in the family.
Miss Ella Mae Waldon and Oscar Sedberry of Decker were united in marriage Friday afternoon. The couple, after a ceremony in Decker, will reside there and are wished happiness by many friends.
Mrs Jerry MeShan a longtime Blackwell resident since 1907 died at her home Monday afternoon April 4 Born Lydia Tolley August 27 1871 in Alabama she married Jerry P MeShan in 1886 and moved to Blackwell in 1907 Survivors include her husband five brothers and two sisters Funeral conducted at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev J H Dean and Rev A J Jones assisting and burial at Blackwell Cemetery
Mrs J N Hanna marked her 91st birthday on April 1 with friends at the Baptist Church who delivered dinner. Easter decor and a large cake with 91 eggs and a nest of nine eggs symbolized wishes for a 100th birthday. Hanna, who lives with her son John, received many neighbors and friends at the occasion.
The U B S meeting at Blackwell School Auditorium included Sweetwater and Hylton Chapters honoring Worthy Grand Matron Noma B. Allen. Officers Lillian Bernard Dosie Smith Opal Jordan Nina Headrick Florabelle Demons attended. Refreshments for 80 guests. Mrs. Austin Jordan hosted 6 PM dinner for visiting Grand Officers. School trustee election elected Mark Hanna Joe Jordan Everett Mills J A Oden John Holland J Robin and R H Reaves.
