Secretary of State Mark White announces a statewide drive to register Texans ages 18 to 24, aiming to boost youth turnout by the October 1 deadline. Officers say most voters participate and that postcards suffice to register. registrations are via county tax assessors or the White office at 1 800 292 9602.
A charter bus will transport riders to the Lawrence Welk Show in Abilene on Oct 16. The trip covers San Angelo to Abilene and back, with Bronte and Robert Lee pickups. Cost is 17.50 per person including ticket and reserved seats. Reservations by Oct 2 require a 10 deposit. Coke County residents contact Mrs R W in Bronte. A Bronte area mini bus may run if at least 39 sign up.
