Mrs Herbert Holland honors her parents Mr and Mrs Jim Clark with a surprise birthday party at their home on Tuesday evening. Hostesses included Mrs Homer Chirk and Mrs Willard Caudle. Food and drink were provided by Chester Derrick and brothers Bert and Homer Cornelius. About 50 guests attended.
Coke County delegates Mrs. Tom Hayes Jr and Gladys Waldrop attended the THDA meeting in Big Spring with 708 registered including delegates and visitors. An AH Helen He Swert scholarship was adopted equal to 5000, and two $5000 Maggue W. Barry scholarships will be awarded to top 4 H girls. New THDA officers were elected as the convention closed.
The G. D. Luckett home in Bronte hosted a reunion for the 1948 graduating class on Saturday evening August 26. About 35 attendees enjoyed fried chicken beans salads cakes and iced tea followed by records and reminiscences about school days. Several members have married since graduation and since the 1949 reunion.
Mrs. Joe Lee Scott, formerly Miss Quida Beaver, was honored at a bridal shower on Saturday August 26 at the home of Mrs. Mon roe Alexander. About 38 guests attended from local families and gifts were displayed by the hostesses.
Locals W. W. Millikin and R. J. returned last week from a trip to San Antonio where they visited Millikin’s mother and two sisters. Mrs P A Roberts of Goldthwaite visited Bronte in the home of her daughter Mrs H C Murtishaw Jr. Carl Miller of Burkburnett arrived in Bronte for a week with her brother C E Bruton and mother Mrs J W Crime. Pete Nutter enjoys a two week vacation in California and Oregon visiting Los Angeles Klamath Falls and Ashland where his mother lives.
Rev. W. A. Reeves pastor of Kickapoo Baptist Church Mrs Reeves and Billy were honored with a surprise birthday party Saturday August 26 at the home of Mr and Mrs Pat Beaver About 65 were present for the party The group played games and had a watermelon feast
H M Shevnan will visit the Cactus Hotel in San Angelo on Thursday Sept 7 from 9 AM to 4 PM to demonstrate the Zoetie Shield. The method claims immediate results, no medicines or straps, and a ten day closure in typical cases with no surgical needs.
Rev. V. D. Price attended the Baptist Brotherhood Jubilee at Lake Brownwood on Monday and Tuesday. He was accompanied by Frank Keeney N. L. Grownover Edward Cumbie Jimmy Cray and Dan Blue.
Mr and Mrs das England and daughter spent the past week in Arkansas for a meeting and are expected to return to Bronte Saturday. Mr and Mrs Arnold Ball visited in Blanco and Austin last weekend.
Mr and Mrs F S Higginbotham of Bronte returned from a trip to Yellowstone National Park Wyoming. They were joined by Mr and Mrs H A Fitzhugh and children of San Antonio and Mr and Mrs Jack Hamilton of Dallas. They left August 19 and returned August 28 after a two day visit in Denver Colorado.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Millikin along with BR. J. and Billie Jean recently completed a vacation trip through Colorado. They visited Pike's Peak Cave of the Winds Garden of the Gods and the Will Rogers Shrine in the Colorado Springs region.
