Certificates were awarded last Thursday to men and women who completed a civil defense course that began on October 1. Taught by J. T. Henry, a Bronte High School vocational agriculture teacher, the ceremony listed numerous recipients and noted some attendees who finished part of the sessions.
Billie Hallmark thanks Dr Harris and local nurses for kindness during hospitalization and appreciation goes to friends for cards flowers and favors. Nish Taylor thanks Dr Harris nurses and those who sent letters while hospitalized here and at the V A hospital in Big Spring. Avon advertisement invites readers to write Box 1629 San Angelo Texas.
Odessa couple Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Graves and their family spent the weekend as guests in the Murrell Johns home, sharing hospitality and visiting.
Winners in last Sunday's Scotch Threesome at the local course were George Latimer, Jimmy Brunson and Doug McCutchen first. Second went to Roy Stout, Eddie Alexander and W. W. Thetford with third earned by Luther McCutchen, Edward Broussard and Doak Snead. A new record was set with 18 entries and golf balls were prizes. Another contest will be held soon.
The Bronte Junior HD Club will meet next Monday October 28 with Mrs E L Champion. All members are urged to attend.
Mrs O L Shur sley describes a canvass where members in spooky costumes will call on town residents to collect donations. After their rounds they return to the church for refreshments and turn in all money received to support the CROP program.
