Insurance rate hike trimmed by Texas board
The Texas State Board of Insurance set auto insurance rate increases for November 1 at 9.9 percent, below an earlier 11.4 percent projection, after adopting Gov. Preston Smith and Rep. Price Daniel study committee suggestions on acquisition costs and investment income. The board will also study rate formulas for possible refinement. Also noted are Democratic party leadership changes with Carrin Patman named as a potential National Committeewoman, and Governor Smith issuing multiple bills and a new Texas Communities Tomorrow initiative to aid small towns.
