Housing Authority to Build 12 Low Cost Units in Bronte
Grover Coulter from the Dallas FHA inspected the Bronte site near the post office city hall and Scott Butane Co. Officials expect approval with construction likely starting early next year. Plans include eight one bedroom and four two bedroom units with six designed for the elderly. Meeting participants were A. E. Bell Jr. Royce Fancher and E. F. Glenn.

Coke 4 H Awards Program Is Set
National 4 H Week will be observed in Coke County with the Annual Awards Program to honor members completing one or more projects. Gordon C Creel of Angelo State University will speak at the event on Monday Oct 6 in the Robert Lee School cafeteria. A covered dish supper starts at 7 p.m. Eighty awards and year pins will be presented, with adult leader awards and special entertainment. All 4 H members and families are invited.

Blackwell Exes Have Reunion
The 1970 Blackwell Homecoming was held last Saturday at the school with only 66 ex students registering. Officers for 1971 were elected: James Ware president, M C Hendry vice president, Vonnie Watts secretary, Anita Hamilton treasurer, Bonnie Lynn and Margie West publicity, Virginia Holland program chairman. Mrs Paul Gothard of Highland was elected homecoming queen and Joe Oden of Littlefield was Mr Ex. Joe Tubb named Football Hero with trophy carried by Allison Allcorn. Mary Beth Johnson Football Sweetheart presented a bouquet carried by Don Ware.

Mrs Binks McCutchen underwent surgery Thursday morning in San Angelo and was reported to be doing well by Thursday afternoon.
County Exhibit Set for Oct 16 17 in Robert Lee
The Coke County Exhibit sponsored by Home Demonstration Clubs and HD Council will run October 16 and 17 at the Recreation Center in Robert Lee. The Cocke County Historical Survey Committee assists as sponsor. Open to county residents and former residents to display antiques, historical items, horticulture, Christmas decorations, scrapbooks, Indian artifacts, dolls, bottles, art, and more.

Patterson New Pastor For Central Baptist
The Rev. M. E. Patterson of Sulphur Springs accepts the pastorate at Central Baptist Church in Bronte succeeding Rev. Kenneth Whitten who resigned in July. The Patterson family moves to Bronte to live at the parsonage on South Franklin Street with wife Idamae and sons Stephen 15 Dale 12 and Philip 4. Patterson has previously led churches at Rockdale Sulphur Springs Lubbock Athens Terrell and Pec an Church west of Robert Lee in 1954 55.

Last Rites Held For P. B. Conner
Funeral services for Perry B. Conner age 79 were held at Johnson's Funeral Chapel in San Angelo with the Rev. Fred Brown officiating. Burial followed in Git Cemetery. Conner died at St. John's Hospital after a two month illness. He was born in Mason County on April 21 1891 and married Agnus McGinnes in Menard on February 14 1914. He was a retired government trapper and a Methodist. Survivors include his wife and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were nephews.

Mrs. Recekey Thompson Gay Harris, a former Blackwell youth and 1970 San Angelo Central graduate, has been elected freshman class president at McMurry College in Abilene. Harris, son of Mrs. Ernestine Harris of San Angelo and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. Roy Sanderson of Blackwell, is a biology major active in Math, Latin and Literary Clubs and served as lieutenant governor of the Key Club.

Shorthorns Defeat Wall in 20-0 Football Victory
The Bronte Shorthorns dominated Wall, 20 to 0, with Jim Dan Raughton scoring twice on passes from Alan Barbee and Louis Martinez adding one rushing TD. Barbee converted two points, and Barbee connects to Raughton again for a late score. Mike Gonzales recovered two fumbles and Marvin Ensor posted solid gains. The team set up a home game versus Eden on Thursday and a road contest at Wall next week.
