Uncle Huie relays a session tale about the Pulpit Committee’s salary debate and the new Bible translation fuss. The Parson keeps the peace with a fable about wheat and roads, stressing living by the Book and ending sermons strong to earn applause.
The Rev Auburn Neely spoke to Sorosis Club members last Thursday at Mrs. W. D. McDonald’s home on Jacob as an outstanding Bible personality. A Thanks tying buffet featured pumpkin pie and refreshments. attendees included Meyce Fancher Glenn Ver nan Glenn Harris Howard Lee and others.
Neighbors gathered at Chester Harwell’s home Saturday as friends hauled in feed and ladies brought dinner. The Tennyson Baptist Church was razed by fire Sunday afternoon with Bronte and San Angelo fire teams responding. Weekend visitors included the Corleys along with the Tidwells, plus numerous local residents attended Minnie Patterson’s funeral. The Tennyson quilting club met November 16 with many members present and planned another session at Mrs. John Clark’s home.
Funeral services for Y. E. Greer, 81, of San Angelo were held at Mule Creek cemetery at 10 a m Tuesday. The J. B. Arrots visited them overnight Friday.
John E. Quinn of Bronte received a 15 year service pin from Lone Star Gas Company. He is employed as a maintenance man at the Bronte plant of the company.
