Texas studies push state and local government reform
The blue ribbon study commission urged wide constitutional revision and restructuring of state and local government. A 17 member Texas Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations will follow up, with growth limits on special districts and expanded local fiscal authority. Also noted were bond sales for the veterans land program, a temporary governor for December, court rulings on abortion and land issues, pesticide policy delays, and deer hunting season implications.
