Mrs Yarbrough Attends Texas History Meeting in Fort Worth
Mrs. Bryan Yarbrough chairs Coke County Historical Survey Committee at the Texas Historical Commission annual meeting held Oct 26 27 in Fort Worth. About 400 history buffs from across the state attended the festival of preservation films and heard Dr Joe B Frantz speak on 6 000 Miles of Fence The XIT Ranch of Texas. A Pate Museum barbecue and a Fort Griffin Fandangle sampler were part of the program as delegates gathered from Albany and nearby counties.

Mission Friends meet with Halloween theme
Mission Friends gathered October 23 at Mrs Harold Elys home with eight children in Halloween costumes. They did not meet November 6 due to a Baptist Church revival. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Hennis Holland of Brownwood and relatives from San Angelo and Austin. WMU met at First Baptist with ten ladies and discussed Passport to People. refreshments followed.

Jayton defeated Bronte 28 to 13 to eliminate the Longhorns from the District 3-B race. Key plays included a 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Bobby Bailey and a 32 yard pass to Bailey set up Jayton’s final scoring drive. Bronte struggled with pass completions late and could not overcome a 28-7 deficit after halftime.
