A cheerful guide to summer living advises removing winter clutter and replacing heavy decor with light furnishings. Tips cover shutters, washable fabrics, slipcovers, washable draperies, plastic curtains, and easy care bedding to create a cool, breezy room that's simple to wash and maintain.
About 1800 4-H members from across Texas will attend the Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station June 2 to 4. County and district winners in judging and demonstration contests will participate alongside 250 County and Assistant Extension Agents 200 friends of 4-H contest donors and 30 board members of the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation. Coke County will send members to three contests including Deane Derrick Sheri Pitcock in the Food Show and Janeye Riker Donna Sowell in a Share the Fun musical skit. Lane Beaty A J Roe II Edwin Lindsey and Mark Matlock will compete in Soil Evaluation. Mrs Fay C Roe Sterling Lindsey and Suzanne McBurnett accompany the 4-Her to College Station.
A pre-school program starts Monday at 8 a.m. at Bronte School with Mrs. C. B. Barbee in charge. Priority is given to students lacking English speaking ability, then six by Sept 1 1969, then other deprived children six by Sept 1 1970. About 30 children expected. one teacher aide and several homemaking girls assist.
Ida Lee Parker presented her piano students in recital Sunday May 18 at First Baptist Church. Participants on the program included Jim Dunnam Dar on Koenig Tanya Skelton Becky Morris Kelly Lawhon Donna Butler Kim Arrott Larry Hooper Rebecca Brown and Robin Brown.

Margi Oglesby daughter of Mr and Mrs Ben Oglesby of Bronte received a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University in San Antonio. She majored in English and was active in the University Choir and Delta Tau Omega. Dr Bruce Thomas spoke at graduation and Rev Raymond Judd at the baccalaureate service. A reception followed in the Sams Memorial Center.
Navy Lieutenant (j.g.) Tom Boecking son of Mr and Mrs Charlie C Boecking of Bronte serves aboard the cruiser USS Saint Paul on a fourth deployment off the Vietnam coast. The ship patrols the coastline ready to answer fire support calls from Navy and Marine spotters ashore.
Roadrunner Camp offers a single session June 28 to July 5 for about 100 campers aged 12 to 25 from Region II Texas. The site near Abilene, ten miles from Abilene, is provided by the Presbyterian Church Encampment at Abilene State Park. Applications require a $15 deposit. camper fee is $40 with optional snacks at 25 cents a day.
Members of Bronte High School's 1965 graduating class are planning a reunion for June 7 at Lee County Park. The gathering starts at 6 30 p.m. and includes members of the class families and parents. A covered dish supper will be served. attendees are asked to bring a dish.
