Local Extension workers and the Texas A and M College Extension Service accept a new wartime assignment aimed at increasing food and feed production. They emphasize long hours and hard work by families new to farming and ranching as signs of patriotism.
County workers report the Texas A and M College Extension Service will supervise Chester C. Davis of the War Food program with funds apportioned under 78th Congress legislation. The agreement covers recruiting and placement of farm labor in Texas and counties, not cross state or international movement. Efforts include Victory Farm Volunteers and local Women's Land Army battalions in some counties to prevent crop waste and livestock dispersal as a national Crop Corps of 3,500,000 workers is contemplated.
