Diet Balance Key to Prevent Atherosclerosis Says Expert
Fats in the diet must balance animal and vegetable types to avoid excess cholesterol. An unsaturated to saturated fat ratio of one or more lowers blood cholesterol. Calorie intake should stay under 35 percent from fat, with about 15 percent from saturated fat and 15 percent from polyunsaturated fat. Dr. Raymond Reiser, Tex A&M biochemistry professor, provided the guidance during a Human Nutrition Workshop.
