It questions a culture of entitlement, urges a 40 hour baseline with possible 44 or 48 hour extensions, and condemns idleness and public complaints without labor. It emphasizes personal duty to work to fund homes cars and appliances.
C E Keeney of Fresno writes praising the paper and mentions enjoying the many named people. He asks to say hello to his brother James if seen, noting it is hard to avoid.
Mrs. Charles Ragsdale born January 27 1906 in Decatur raised in Coke and Nolan Counties studied at Sierra Blanca and Sul Ross College married in 1926 lived in Sweetwater then Blackwell. She serves as precinct registrar and active in church W S C S Eurespean Club WHD Club and Rebekah Lodge plus room mother at Blackwell schools.
The Union Club met at Mrs Marshall Stephenson’s home on Friday May 9. Members received recipe pamphlets and discussed fashion topics while enjoying poetry and song. A game Poultry Contest was played and ice cream and cake served to members and two visitors. Next meeting May 23 at Mrs Garland Spencer’s with flower arrangements and double pearl button hole tips planned.
The pastor Elder Neal W. Stout and family met with us on May Sed. During the summer they will meet at the churchhouse each week at 2 30.
