Hayrick Club held a March 22 gathering at Mrs Lo Robbins home with six members and two guests. Mrs Waldrop led the opening, handled parliamentary refresher, and set the next meeting for April 5 at Mrs Waldrops home. A community party is planned for April 6.
The state of Texas Coke county Bronte area holds an election on April 7 14 5 for three members to the Bronte Independent School District board of trustees. Mack Powell President, Board of Trustees.
The Blackwell Euterpean club met at Mrs J Roy Sanders home with Mrs John Ranes as co host. President Mrs Vo Copeland presided and welcomed no visitors. The club voted to donate to the Red Cross. Austin Jordan was reader for Comin sty Muse. Vernon Phigger spoke on Super Salesman of Music Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore. Best gave a talk on He Makes Them Simple. Robert Shaw Youthful Symphony on Wheels was discussed. An assortment of cookies was served to members and hostesses.
The Bronte Junior HD Club gathered at Mrs. A. N. Rawlings home with Mrs. Joe Rawlings in charge. Mrs. C. E. Arrott spoke on roles of order as members worked on handwork. Harold Sims won a floating gift. refreshments included ice cream and cake. Attendees listed include Harold Sims, O. R. McQueen, D. K. Glenn, and others. visitors from Abilene joined. Next meeting set for April 16 with Mrs. Childe Gentry hosting an all day covered dish luncheon.
A local poll among Bronze Hill boys finds slight overall preference for long dresses over short hair. Results vary by age with freshmen favoring short hair and skirts, while upperclassmen lean toward long hair and long skirts. Visitors from Racine and Vodene toured local sites and oil fields during a hot week.

Chalk dust fills Bishop High School as most students prepare for IL events through April. Robert Lee Steers beat Bronte in volleyball on Monday. Student Council met Tuesday with sponsors Mr Creel and Mr Daniel and voted to attend a San Angelo High School student council meeting. They also disciplined two offenders ending the session.
A church notice invites readers to attend the Church of Christ and discusses faith and works from James 2 verses. The message asserts faith and deeds are inseparably linked, with faith without works deemed dead. It appeals to readers to join the church.
Scout leader J. L. Carroll announced a hike for Monday April 2 by the local troop. Two patrols led by Don Glenn and Johnny Smith will participate. Scouts wishing to join should gather at the school house by 5 o'clock for the trek.
Carroll tells the Colorado River group to meet after the hike and advises each scout to carry a quarter pound of meat vegetables biscuit mix and two other foods. Parents may pick up at :30 p.m. after the excursion.
