Welfare cuts loom for Austin AFDC beneficiaries May first
Welfare Commissioner Hackney announced substantial AFDC reductions effective May 1 with aid about one third lower and about 4 500 families dropped from eligibility as the Legislature credits are exhausted. The average grant may fall from 118 to about 80 dollars monthly.
