Bronte Enterprise, published weekly in Bronte Texas, operated under the Post Office second class matter filing. Editor Ben Ogiesby lists the masthead and address as Bronte, Texas with March 1 1918 postmark under the 1879 act.
Funeral services for William Earl Brock 68 of Seminole were held at 2 p m Saturday at Bronte Fairview Cemetery with Elmer Hurley of Bronte officiating. Brock died March 13 in St Manny s Hospital Lubbock after a year in a Lubbock nursing home. He was born September 7 1905 in Arkansas and married Odessa Bennett in Bronte. He moved to Seminole in 1945 and was a retired oilfield driller. Survivors include his wife two daughters and a son plus grandchildren and a great grandchild. Pallbearers were local Bronte men.
Bronte Home Demonstration Club sponsors a Birthday of the Month Party Monday at 7 p.m. at Bronte Nursing Home. Residents March birthdays honored include Steve Parker Florence Hailland and Sadie Harrington. A square dance group from Robert Lee will provide entertainment. Relatives and friends invited.
Funeral services for Nonbon Bill Alexander were held at 10 am Monday at Johnetins Funeral Home Chapel with G. Bunyard officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Victory Cemetery in Brookshire. Alexander, born July 25 1913 in Brookshire, died about 2:30 am last Friday at Biz Spring Western Hospital. He served in World War II and was a member of several veterans and military organizations. Survivors include his wife Verta Joy, daughter DiAnnie Loy, five sisters and a brother.
A wave of returning students includes Jan Magness of Western Texas College Snyder Susan Amrott Melissa Lee Jerry Brock Bobby Skelton and Gang from Southwest Texas State University San Marcos Lynn Lawhon Cathy Bryan and Ma Mrs Brian Richards of Texas A M College Station David Denman moved back to Bronte from Briarwood to join his parents at White Auto Store in Bronte Denmans 1973 grades reflect Howard Payne College affiliation
Mrs. C B Barbee Bronte first grade teacher is in Austin Thursday and Friday to serve on a Texas Small Schools Association committee of officers superintendents and teachers tasked with remitting standards for small schools projects.
Jim Bob Arnott of Ballinger was admitted to Bronte Hospital Sunday for a rattle snake bite on his thumb. He is the son of Mr and Mrs J B Arnott.
