Weekend Visits Across Brookshire and Nearby Towns

Local social notes record numerous visits and gatherings. Families including Brown, Holland, Florence, and Lee hosted relatives and friends from Abilene, Lubbock, San Angelo, Winters, and Winters area, with dinners, outings, and a hospital weekend at Carlsbad.

New Tax Exemptions Birth Announcements

Albert Thomas Grace IV born March 11 in Wichita Falls weighing five pounds two ounces. Rickey Lee Stancill born March 8 in Abilene Hendricks Hospital weighing seven pounds three ounces with siblings and extended family listed. Terry Dale Turner born March 14 in Ballinger Memorial Hospital weighing seven pounds with listed relatives and great grandparents.

Rites Held for Former Assessor Mrs Theo dore Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore Johnson 87 of Winters were held at Bronte Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Walker and Rev. Roy Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery Bronte under Spill Funeral Home Winters. Born Martha Louisa May October 19 1879 she married in 1896 and moved to Coke County Bronte then Robert Lee where her husband served as tax assessor until 1910. She then became Bronte tax assessor four years before returning to Bronte to run a drug store for over 30 years. She retired in 1947 and moved to Winters near her daughter. She was active in the Methodist church Sunday school official board and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter Angie Glenn of Winters two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.

Ballinger Funeral Held for I R Cole

Funeral services were held Sunday in Ballinger for I R Cole 80 of Ballinger who died Saturday in Abilene. Burial followed in Norton Cemetery under Allen Davis Funeral Home direction. A former Maverick resident and Church of Christ member, he survived by his wife two sons Leroy Abilene and Stanley Buffalo Gap a daughter Mrs Earl Bowden Abilene six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
