Nearly seven million school children may buy U S Savings Stamps and Bonds through the Treasury program with about 18 million dollars in stamps purchased yearly.

Rites Held for J. N. Magness
Funeral services for James Newton Magness 76 a longtime Hylton resident were held in Sweetwater with Masonic graveside rites. He died after a weeks illness at Simmons Memorial Hospital. Survived by wife two sons a daughter a stepson seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was born December 17 1886 in Limestone County and was a farmer and Mason.

Bronte Tracksters Grab Third in Snyder Relays
Bronte High School finished third in the Class B division of the Canyon Reef Relays held in Snyder last Saturday. Royce Lee won the broad jump with a meet record 19 ft 10 1 2 in and led the 440 yard relay quartet of Stout, Lee, Glenn, Sims, Curlee to a meet record 46 seconds. Curlee took 2nd in the 220, Stout was 2nd in the 100, Edwin McDaniel 4th, and Bronte totaled 38 points behind Hermleigh and Gail.
