Precooked Dry Beans Enter Market with Quick Cook Times
Precooked dry beans that cook in 20 to 30 minutes are now on the market in most states. Old fashioned navy beans soup or baked beans can be ready for the table in less than an hour. Flat-sided freezer containers save space versus cylindrical cartons. American or cheddar cheese is common in cheese assortments. Three strength levels exist with prices from high to low. Mild cheddar aged 69 to 90 days lowers cost while medium aged six to nine months is pricier and stronger. Sharp cheese ages a year or more, yielding peak flavor and higher processing costs.
