Tennyson 4-H Club Girls Discuss What You Eat

Rose Favorite Flower Highlighted At W H D C Meeting

The W H D C met at Mrs. O W Chapman’s home on June 20 with Mrs. Chapman hosting for Mrs. Fred McDonald. Members named the rose as the favorite flower by vote. A program on salads and beverages featured Mrs. J D Leonard’s talk on vitamins and each member shared a favorite salad recipe. The finance committee reported 2.10 from the last grab bag to be held for expenses. During social hour Mrs. Chas Keeney led a canned goods contest aligned with the canning program. Refreshments were served.

Thirteen members and one visitor enjoyed tea and salad with wafers at the meeting. The club welcomed Mrs. Jimmie Irwin of Colorado City as a visitor. The next gathering is set for July 18 with Mrs. B. F. Modgling as hostess.

James W Scott 18 1st class USNR of Bronte Texas took part in the initial attack on Okinawa aboard a destroyer in the Pacific He entered the Navy in August 1944 and is son of Mr and Mrs Walter Scott Bronte awaiting return to his dad s ranch.

Marine Corps Seeks 55 Recruits This June

The U S Marine Corps authorized enlisting 55 additional 17 year old men in June. Recruits join the Marine Reserves and serve for the duration.
