City officials in Bronte await a new pump to boost pressure and increase supply by about 100000 gallons. A temporary halt on pumping from Oak Creek Lake remains during installation with strict watering limits in effect for east and west of Washington Street.
The Bronte Enterprise announces a July subscription sale with 50 cent discounts on all subs. Local Coke Country and Bronte trade territory subs are $3.50, Texas subs $4.50, and out of state subs $5.50. Mail or bring orders to the Enterprise office. local reps listed. Sid Eubanks Jr. has been discharged from seven years service in the U.S. Navy and will train in computer systems in Cupertino California.
The Tennyson Post Office observed its 80th anniversary with an all day open house as 79 guests registered. Guests from Tennyson and nearby towns attended while longtime postmasters and clerks were noted, including current officer in charge William Green and past postmasters such as Mrs. Betty Green who became voting postmaster in 1943.
Nancy Rawlings daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Rawlings served as an official delegate from Texas Woman's University Denton to the national Phi Upsilon Camtron home economics fraternity conclave. The gathering ran June 18 to 21 at Arizona State University Tempe campus.
Plans are underway for the Coke County Fair to be held September 13 to 15 at the new County Center and Show Building. The theme is A Heritage Jolrj oree with a Saturday night grand celebration featuring a Belle and Beau square dance and Western music. Entries mirror last year but add a delta market antique show household arts division and livestock exhibits. A fair catalogue will be mailed to county box holders. Mrs Rebert Minicato and her children of Darien Com arrived Wednesday to visit Mr and Mrs Cecil Kemp.
Bronte will be largely closed next Thursday for the Fourth of July. The Bronte Post Office City Hall and First National Bank will shut down. Residents are urged to fly flags and prepare for a quiet holiday with limited local events.
Mrs. Joe Rawlings completes study at the West Texas Summer Migrant Education Institute held June 10 21 at the Education Service Center in San Angelo. The program was sponsored by Regions 12 14 15 and 18 of the Texas Education Agency and Angelo State University. Emphasis of the study was on reading.
Mr and Mrs J Roy Sanderson celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open house and reception on Sunday from 2 30 to 5 00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church in Blackwell. They were married July 5 1924 and have four children and many grandchildren attending.
Scouts from Camp Sol Mayer earned awards for multiple skills. Danryl Jackson, Robert Taylor, and Don Hamilton completed merit badge requirements in Pioneering First Aid Skill Swimming Rowing and Canoeing Environmental Science and more. Darryl Jackson achieved a Camping Skill Award while John Heaner was tapped out as a new Arrow member.
