Bronte Elementary and Bronte High School announced scholastic honors and special awards for the year. Democratic Primary Runoff Vote Saturday

Rail road Commissioner nominees are Jon Newton and Jerry Sadler, while Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals Unexpired Term features Carl Dally and W T Phillips. Final Rites Held for Finis Bryan at Winters
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Main Street Church of Christ in Winters for Finis Bryan 74 born May 10 192 in Hill County. Burial followed at Williamson Cemetery with Spill Funeral Home directing. Bryan died of natural causes on his Bradshaw area farm and is survived by his wife Edith a son Joe Winters a daughter Mrs Ernest Barker Hayward Calif seven grandchildren and one great grandchild with three children predeceased.

June Designated Cleanup Month in Bronte
Bronte designates June as City Cleanup Month with Mayor Caperton urging residents to place trash and junk in alleys by June 21 for hauling. Trucks operate June 21 through June 26 to remove items including large refuse, appliances, and old furniture as part of Bicentennial efforts to beautify Bronte.

Bron te Bandsmen Shine at State Meet
Three Bronze Longhorn Band members took part in the State Band Solo and Ensemble Contest at the University of Texas in Austin. Leah Barbee Tonya Teschendorf and Denise McClure earned a Division TL rating for their trio twirling act while Leah and Tonya earned Division THI and Denise Division IV in solo competitions. The trio were the only local bandsmen present.
