Legion Observes Memorial Day in Bronte
The George Scott post of the American Legion honored fallen servicemen with a Wednesday ceremony and parade led by the Bronte High School Band. The procession along Main and South State Streets ended at the cemetery where one veteran's grave was decorated. A chaplain’s prayer, a veteran tribute, The Star Spangled Banner, a salute, and taps followed.

The Bronte Longhorn Band directed by Vershal Smith accompanied the Longhorns to away and home conference games. Major Hattie Jane Snead led the drill. 1950-51 majorettes were Francis Carlton Jo Dell Walton and Rita McCutchen. Officers included Snead Whatley Gaddy Runes Brunson. The group staged a Christmas banquet spoke by Mrs A S Whatley and joined forces with Robert Lee Band for a joint concert. The band fed the Memorial Day parade.
