Bridges in Area Being Widened
The Texas Highway Department reports a project on State Highway 158 in Coke and Runnels Counties and on Highway 208 in Coke County. Four new bridges will be built and fourteen widened. Construction began July 18 and runs to April 1963 under L R Bowden of Dallas. Traffic will detour around eighteen sites with a temporary 45 mph speed limit and heavy construction traffic.

Thanks for Help With Local Style Show and August 4 H Events

Birth Announcement for Julie Gail Beyerlein
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beyerlein announce the birth of their daughter Julie Gail on Tuesday July 24 at 4 30 p.m. in Dyess AFB Hospital Abilene weighing six pounds 11 ounces. Grandparents are H C Murtishaw Bronte and Delmas Beyerlein Indianapolis with five great grandparents including Effie Roberts Bronte and H C Murtishaw Sr. Bronte.

Boat built by Cocharo owners aimed at long service in sea
Richards said the boat could last up to 60 years with hundreds of hours spent shaping the material. Linton Crow helped with metal work as the builders completed the craft. The Cocharo owners expressed satisfaction and planned deep sea fishing from the deck, with a Corpus Christi trip planned later this week.

Latham Resigns as Robert Lee Superintendent
Hervey Latham resigns as superintendent of Robert Lee schools to take a teaching post in San Angelo at Sam Houston. Mrs Latham to teach 8th grade math at Lee Junior High. Health cited. contract extended to 1964. Latham, son of Alene Latham from Bronte, began as elementary principal in 1958 and became superintendent in 1960. He is married to Betty McMinn, Texarkana, with two daughters Lou Ann and Elizabeth Ann.
