Heavy Cambrian Gas Finds West of Bronte and New Goen Drill
Cambrian No. 9 on the Hickman lease near Bronte produced gas to the surface in six minutes on a drillstem test at 5424 feet with 3510 feet of free oil and no water. A second Cambrian unit southwest of No. 9 showed daily potential of 236 barrels. Springer Drilling Co. of Abilene drilled the wells. Mac Springer is tool pusher. The No Cambrian Unit flowed on a drill stem test in the Goen formation at 4807 feet. cement work pending and perforations planned in Goen and Cambrian.

Bronte Firemen Answer Three Calls In Week
Bronte volunteer firemen responded to three blazes since last Wednesday afternoon. An old outbuilding across from Bill Wrinkle’s home burned, a vacant house on Park Road in east Bronte was destroyed, and the Hendry residence at Oak Creek Lake burned heavily with Blackwell firefighters assisting. Mr. and Mrs. Hendry lost furnishings. the couple were away when the fire started. Visiting relatives included Roy Robinson’s guests Kay Jones from Corpus Christi and Mrs. Pearl Whigham of Winters.
