Married 58 Years Couple Report Anniversary

Mrs. Ed Dixon visited The Enterprise office to renew the paper and to announce that she and Mr. Dixon have been married 58 years. The couple wed in 1891 in Menard County and moved to Coke County in 1905, living there almost continuously except for one year.

Mrs Aubrey Denman and Mrs J A J Waldrop attended the funeral of Mrs Bascus Hartgrave's mother in Maryneal where Mrs Hartgrave is Mrs Waldrop's daughter. Mio and Mrs A L Cain moved to Colorado City while Mio and Mrs Richard Cockburn moved to San Saba for work. Visitors included Mrs Willie McMullin of San Angelo and Mrs Josie Rogers of Sweet Water at Mrs E B Fletcher's home. Mrs B W Waldrop seeks treatment for arthritis in Christoval. Mrs Crum of Robert Lee, mother of Mrs B W Waldrop, hospitalized in San Angelo with Wohroken beg. The Kickapoo Baptist Revival continues with Rev Jones preaching. all welcome. Weaver Mitchells son from California visited. Hayrick home demonstration club held its last meeting with Mrs E B Fletcher. Miss Free Dein presented a landscape program. members present included Mimes, W C Cresap, J W Labenske, L C Robbins, AL Denman, hostess, and visitors Mars Casey from San Angelo.

Texas Capitol Was In Louisiana for Over Half Century

Dr. J. D. Leonard of Bronte shared a clipping from a Louisiana paper The Enterprise noting Los Adaes served as the Texas capital for fifty years during Spanish rule. The site near Natchitoches in West Central Louisiana was used until 1773, remembered by four mesquite trees along El Camino Real and a map in Robeline high school.
