Bronte Takes Fourth in State Softball Tournament
Bronte placed fourth at the state softball tournament held at Bal linger last weekend. Galveston won, Midland was second, and Lake Jackson took third. Bronte defeated Childress 9 to 7 in a morning opener before a semifinal spot, with Kay Munn pitching and Grace, Gray, Vaughn, Collins, and Pruitt delivering timely hits. Galveston’s Brazosport forfeit and a late Bronte rally in a 14 to 13 thriller preceded Midland’s 14 to 4 win over Brazosport, and Galveston then blanked Midland 11 to 0 in the final.
