Four Coke County youths to attend national Boy Scout Jamboree

Four Coke County youths Clark Godwin Billy Rankin Roach Eddie Glenn and Rex Harris will travel with San Angelo and Concho Valley contingents to the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Colorado Springs. They depart July 20 and return July 30, sleeping in the National Guard Armory and riding four chartered buses. The 55 000 Scouts will form a temporary city near the Air Force Academy and Denver with extensive food, medical, and religious support as the event runs July 24 28.

Coke 4-H Boys Excel In Litter Contest

Three Coke County 4-H members earned prizes in the San Angelo Sears Roebuck Foundation heavy litter contest with top weights. Roy Lee Baker won first with a 401 pound litter of ten pigs at eight weeks, Doyle Robertson placed fifth with 255 pounds across eight pigs, and William Ray Hood took seventh with 215 pounds from seven pigs. Roy Lee receives 18 dollars, while Doyle and William Ray get 3 dollars each. Additional club members had litters: Davie Boykin and Ellis Freeman.
